Microblading Course

Microblading (also referred to as Microstroking, Eyebrow Embroidery, Feather Stroke Brows, 3D Brows, micropigmentation, etc) is the process of manually implanting color pigment into the dermis, by means of tiny, sterile, disposable needles to produce the appearance of hair strokes.

Ombré brows, also known as Powder Brows, are a semi-permanent eyebrow styling technique that creates a soft shaded brow pencil look. This amazing technique, first developed in Asia, has been around for decades and has been gradually improving over the years. It gives great definition & depth to the eyebrows. It is particularly recommended for women with oily skin or combination skin or anyone who fills in their brows regularly with pencil or shadow.

With the sudden popularity and media attention to the term microblading, many are led to falsely believe microblading is not a tattoo process. THIS IS FALSE. Permanent cosmetics, “semi-permanent makeup”, micropigmentation, dermal implantation, microblading/microstroking, eyebrow embroidery, and long-time/long-lasting makeup, are all different names for the same procedure – cosmetic tattooing. Any time pigment is placed into the skin with any device, it is a tattoo process. This is defined by many well informed regulators, the medical community, and dictionary sources. Denying this process is a tattoo can be problematic for those who would, for religious or other personal reasons, normally refuse to have a tattoo.

Those who want to effortlessly look their best anytime. Busy moms/dads, business women/men or anyone with an active lifestyle. However, if you have oily skin, ombré powder brows may be a better option for you.

Ombre powder brows are great for any skin type, unlike microblading, which may not work well on oily skinned beauties. Your eyebrow will look fuller, more defined as well as dramatic. Ombré brows last longer than microbladed brows, usually up to 5 years. The ombré powder technique is a bit less invasive than that of microblading. Also, this semi-permanent eyebrow styling technique is less painful than that of microblading.

To all those doing their research on which technician to go for and which treatment is right for them, I just wanted to highlight the key differences and pros and cons of each.

BOTH treatments are a form of tattoo. Pigment is implanted into the skin using different methods. Microblading is carried out with a manual tool that has a collection of fine needles that form a blade. Digital is achieved using a tattoo machine and a single vibrating needle.

The Digital technique means the pigment is implanted slightly deeper into the skin therefore lasting longer; approx 2-4 years. Microblading can be expected to last 12-18months.

Microbladed strokes tend to be finer and fluffier looking so ideal for someone wanting a very subtle enhancement either for already full brows or for those ladies with fair/fine hair.

Digital, although still natural, can achieve more prominent brows with the use of shading over the hairstrokes. Hairstrokes are still fine but generally not as ‘fluffy’ as microblading. The image below is my work with a digital machine and added shading. Shading is an added option for those wanting fuller brows.

Digital machine is suitable for all ages, skin types and tones providing there are no medical/skin issues. Microblading is not recommended for excessively oily, mature or fragile skin. Colour boosts are recommended every 9-12 months for Microblading and 12-18 months for Digital.
